At the end of March, the kind folk at Pelé Sports gave us some items from their superb range of clothing and footwear to put up for grabs. We asked readers to tell us their favourite Pele moment and why. The winning entry came from Seán O’Mahony:
My favourite Pele moment was the goal he scored for Santos against Benfica in 1962. A short pass to his feet and before he even touches the ball, he has sold a dummy to a defender with a swivel of his hips. Sprinting towards goal, Pele looks as if hes about to lose his footing but regains it and in doing so, manages to take the ball past the last two defenders before hitting a rocket of a shot just inside the far post of the goal. This, for me, encapsulated the genius that Pele had, that made everything look so easy.
Below is our list of lucky winners:
1970 Performance Boots: Seán O’Mahony
Hoodies: Cillian O’Neill and Ross Mulcahy
T-Shirts: Mark O’Toole, David O’Connor, Lorcan Harrington and Paul Fisher
This week we gave you the chance to win one of three sets of tickets to this weekend’s FA Cup semi finals at Wembley. We asked you:
In the E.ON FA Cup Fifth Round, which team had the most shots on goal?
The answer was of course Fulham and our winners are as follows:
Manchester City: Warren Pilkington
Stoke City: Leeane Williams
Bolton Wanderers: Mike Parkin
Thank you to everyone who entered both competitions and we hope to have many more in the not too distant future.
