City agree deal for Lescott

Sports - November 16, 2007

The Joleon Lescott transfer saga looks to have reached a conclusion after Manchester City confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign the defender from Everton for around £24 million.

England international Lescott arrived at Eastlands this morning to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms ahead of the move.

Everton boss David Moyes has expressed his outrage at how the scenario has been dragged out, and last week dropped Lescott from the Everton squad, forcing him to train on his own.

“We shouldn’t have been asked to wait this length of time for an amount of cash we think was the correct value for the player,” said Moyes

“Real Madrid came in with the money (£80million for Cristiano Ronaldo) for Manchester United the week after the end of the season.

“If the money had been offered in June it would have been a lot easier for us.

“The time is against us (to find a replacement). You can always spend money if you pay the right prices. The hard part is it will be expensive.”
