To kick off there’s a look back at the final round of Premier League action with Ger and Willie disappointed at Spurs’ failure to qualify for the Champions League, before the lads pick out some of their personal highlights from the season that was.

The Champions League Final is this weekend, and there’s an even split in terms of support with two firmly behind Dortmund and two rooting for Bayern.

Michael then gives us his expert opinion on the news that NYCFC will be the 20th Major League Soccer team from 2015 thanks to a partnership between Manchester City and the New York Yankees.

To finish with there’s a preview of next week’s big friendly at Wembley between England and Ireland, the first meeting of the two sides since the ill fated affair in 1995.

Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City exit takes up the first segment of this week’s show as the lads discuss the Italian’s pros and cons as well as the direction the club will now take.

Wigan Athletic may have won the FA Cup but relegation followed swiftly afterwards in what was a very mixed few days. How was it that the team was able to raise their game at Wembley yet perform so miserably in the league?

Chelsea helped themselves to the Europa League trophy this week, giving Rafa Benitez the opportunity to give the boo boys the proverbial two fingers. Where next for the Spaniard?

There’s some discussion on the recently announced Ireland squad ahead of the upcoming friendlies, with some focus on James McCarthy’s future, before the pod rounds off with League of Ireland discussion as Alan Mathews leaves Shelbourne.

The big news of the week centred around Old Trafford and the lads pay tribute to the outgoing Manchester United manager before discussing the now confirmed appointment of David Moyes as his successor.

The race for the Champions League spots continues with Spurs looking likely to miss out following their midweek draw at Chelsea, while at the bottom, Wigan may have dug themselves into too deep a hole as they sit three points from safety with just two games remaining.

Roberto Martinez’s side have the FA Cup final to consider as well this weekend and while no one can really see past a Manchester City fan, Neil remains skeptical in true blue fashion.

To finish off there’s discussion on the final day of the Championship and what it means for the futures of the Irish players at Hull City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There’s only one place to start this week with both German sides making it through to the Champions League Final later this month. What will be the fallout for the losing Spanish sides who would have been desperate for European glory this season?

Joseph takes us through some of the best stories to come out of La Liga this season, before the focus switches to the battle to avoid the drop from the Premier League. Two sides are already gone so will it be Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic or even Newcastle United that joins them?

With the BackPageFootball Premier League Team of the Season announced this week, it gives the lads the perfect opportunity to debate who made the cut. Ger and Willie both take exception to the inclusion of Matija Nastasic and also try to justify some of their own decision. Technical issues meant we lost Joseph for this part of the pod but you can view his XI here.

Ger is only too happy to talk about Borussia Dortmund who dominated Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi final and it’s no surprise that they come in for plenty of praise. In the other game, Bayern Munich blew Barcelona away at the Allianz Arena meaning we’re set for an all German affair in the Wembley final.

In the Premier League, Ger and Willie are understandably delighted with Spurs’ six minute blitz of Manchester City, a result which ultimately ended hopes of the Premier League title going anywhere other than Old Trafford. Speaking of which, there’s talk on Manchester United and their ability to grind out results this season as well as City’s failings.

Liverpool fan Paul Little gives his thoughts on the Luis Suarez’s biting incident in the weekend game with Chelsea at Anfield. Is the ten game ban handed down by the FA too harsh? Will the Uruguayan still be at Anfield next season?

To round off, Neil reports on the A-League Grand Final and puts forward the question regarding which is better – a first past the post league system or a finals series.

The Premier League title race is mathematically still on after Manchester City scraped a 1-0 win over Wigan on Wednesday night while rivals United could only draw away to West Ham. As well as the games, the lads also discuss the future of Wayne Rooney amid speculation that he could leave Old Trafford in the summer.

Other Premier League related topics include whether David Moyes will still be Everton boss next year and Cardiff City’s promotion to the Championship following a timely cash injection.

The FA Cup semi finals are also on the agenda as City beat Chelsea and Wigan beat Millwall to make it to the showpiece event on May 11th.

Sligo Rovers continue to dominate the League of Ireland with eight wins from eight, while both Ger and Neil discuss the fortunes of their respective clubs Cork City and Shelbourn to date before Willie Gannon talks Chris Forrester who is excelling with St. Pat’s.

This week’s podcast kicks off with the Europa League with recording having taken place in the immediate aftermath of Spurs’ penalty shootout exit at the hands of Basel. Both Ger and Willie discuss the loss as well as the club’s hopes of claiming a Champions League spot for next season.

Manchester City came out on top in the latest derby against United but the general consensus is that theironly chance of silverware this season is in the FA Cup ahead of their semi final with Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

Ger’s is understandably delighted with Dortmund’s run to the Champions League semi finals, while Willie believes that the competition now has the best four sides in Europe remaining.

To round off there’s some discussion around the merits of Ireland’s fixtures over the summer months with a game against Spain in New York announced for June.

The pod kicks of with a review of the midweek Champions League quarter final first legs. The lads discuss David Beckham’s influence, or lack thereof, for Paris St Germain, Bayern’s professional performance against Juventus, and how to pronounce a Dortmund midfielder’s name. Oh, and there’s reference to Joey Barton’s latest Twitter outburst.

The FA Cup and Premier League tie in nicely together given Chelsea’s hectic run of games following their win over Manchester United, who themselves will be looking to edge a step closer to the title with a win over City in the Derby on Monday night.

Paolo Di Canio’s appointment as Sunderland boss has really gotten under Ger’s skin, while Willie displays no bias whatsoever when picking Spurs’ clash with Everton as the biggest game of the weekend.

To round off there’s some chat on the League of Ireland as Sligo Rovers continue their stunning start. Willie offers a suggestion for Shamrock Rovers’ poor showing so far, and Ger is disappointed that Cork City’s diet of black pudding isn’t paying dividends.

This week's pod is a day early and sees Ger McCarthy, Willie Gannon and Paul Little join Neil Sherwin to assess Ireland's two fixtures, as well as the fortunes of some of the other nations hoping to qualify for Brazil 2014.

The prodigal returns to the podcast with Ger back on board in time to discuss Ireland’s two draws against Sweden and Austria. The optimism following Friday’s credible draw against Zlatan Ibrahimovic was undone to a large extent when the Austrians netted an injury time equaliser at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday. Did Trap get it wrong with his substitutions? Can we still qualify for the World Cup? What positives can be taken from the games?

There’s also a look at how England are progressing, Mario Balotelli’s recent goalscoring exploits, Holland’s chances of going one better than 2010, as well as a round up of some of the other international stories including mixed results for the USA and Australia.

To round off the lads look ahead to some important Premier League fixtures with Nigel Adkins set to take charge of Reading for the first time.
