After struggling to field a team for the last number of weeks, Ruining Football now boasts a full compliment of players for this gameweek.

It feels weird not having to scrape a team together, and if anything it has been difficult to pick a team because there are too many players that could do a job.

Aston Villa’s double gameweek makes their players an obvious choice for inclusion, and we have replaced Wolves’ Jody Craddock with James Collins.

He joins fellow team mate Carlos Cuellar in the team, and while having two defenders from the same team is quite a risk, if they keep two clean sheets it will have been well worth it.

The only injury doubt at the moment is Cesc Fabregas and as a result the captaincy has been handed over to Manchester United’s in form striker Wayne Rooney.

He is one of three United players in the side alongside Darren Fletcher and Patrice Evra, and they could all score highly at home to Fulham.

The return of both Didier Drogba and Carlos Tevez after a week off is a massive boost and, along with Rooney, they make up an extremely potent forward line.

Joe Hart takes over from Thomas Sorensen in goal due to Birmingham City’s good home record and is joined by Roger Johnson in the side, though Lee Bowyer drops to the bench alongside Stoke’s Matthew Etherington and Portsmouth’s Jamie O’Hara.

Last week’s points haul of 38 points wasn’t too bad considering only eight players actually played.

Fabregas started so well as captain, scoring in the first half for Arsenal, but limped off shortly after.

Defenders Leighton Baines and Patrice Evra chipped in nicely, while Jamie O’Hara picked up an assist and two bonus points for Pompey.

The team currently sits in 39,667th position out of a total of 2,283,731 teams.

A difficult week ahead once again for Fantasy Football managers with a number of teams not in action. Ruining Football has managed to field an eleven on paper, but whether they will all play is a different matter altogether.

Manchester City, Tottenham, Fulham, Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers all have the weekend off, again forcing managers to do more wheeling and dealing than Harry Redknapp during a transfer window.

Bolton and Burnley do place twice but that’s of no use to me seeing as there is a combined total of zero players from either club in the squad.

To make things worse, Wayne Rooney is now a major doubt for Manchester United’s trip to Wolves, while Matthew Etherington is touch and go.

If both of them make it then we will at least be fielding a full side, a luxury which is not very easy to come by this week.

Cesc Fabregas is the obvious choice to skipper the side with a game against Burnley at the Emirates which could turn into a bit of a rout.

Transfer wise, Branislav Ivanovic has been sold in favour of Everton’s Leighton Baines who is usually good for an assist or two from set pieces. I decided not to take a points hit this time after doing so far too much recently.

The toughest decision was deciding who to go for in goal but in the it came down to the fact that if Birmingham concede heavily and Hart, Johnson and Bowyer are all in the team then we’re fairly screwed. Clean sheets for both Stoke and Brum now please!

Last week’s total of 55 points was pretty good and resembled something like a return to form. Drogba as captain was an obvious let down, as was Ivanovic’s contribution of -1.

However, the decision to lump on Birmingham paid off massively with clean sheets all round and bonus points for Bowyer and Johnson.

Carlos Tevez and Fabregas both put in top drawer performances with goals, assists and bonus points all over the place, though Jamie O’Hara could have made things even better had he not missed a penalty for Portsmouth.

The team currently sits in 40,533rd place out of a total of 2,279,562 teams.

Ruining Football continue to slip down the Fantasy Football standings after a number of horror weeks and things don’t look like getting better any time soon.

Birmingham City are the new Manchester United….in Fantasy Football terms anyway.

With the Champions in Carling Cup action this week, I have turned to Birmingham City and their solid home record for points this week. Out go Rooney, Evra and Fletcher. In come Hart, Johnson and Bowyer.

A home clash against Wigan really could go either way but if Brum do keep a clean sheet then it will give us a great platform on which to build for the rest of the gameweek. That’s the plan anyway.

Carlos Tevez is set to return to action for Manchester City against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, though Blues duo Didier Drogba and Branislav Ivanovic are more likely to contribute points in their clash.

Indeed, Drogba is given the captain’s armband such is his superb form at the moment.

Matthew Etherington remains an injury doubt so with Carlos Cuellar also involved in Sunday’s final at Wembley, we face the real prospect of going into this gameweek with just nine players.

Wolves’ Jody Craddock continues in defence by default while Jamie O’Hara will hopefully do something special for administration-hit Portsmouth.

Last week’s total of 73 points might look good but it was well below the big hitters.

Drogba contributed two goals to the cause, while Rooney justified his selection as captain with a superb performance against West Ham after struggling at Everton.

Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas also found the net and picked up his customary three bonues points.

The team currently sits in 39,485th place out of a total of 2,273,960 teams.

Team for Gameweek 28 -

Injuries and suspensions have left Ruining Football short six players for this gameweek, forcing the gaffer to bite the bullet [...]

Injuries and suspensions have left Ruining Football short six players for this gameweek, forcing the gaffer to bite the bullet and take a points hit.

Nani you clown. I knew I shouldn’t have shown any faith in him. His red card against Aston Villa and subsequent three game suspension has hurt us bad.

Carlos Tevez is still back in Argentina on compassionate leave while Abou Diaby, Andy Reid, Matthew Etherington and Gary Cahill are all injured. Armand Traore is no longer in Arsene Wenger’s plans so really there are seven players who won’t feature this weekend.

To actually field something resembling a team we’ve made three changes. Out go Reid, Cahill and Nani and in come Aston Villa’s Carlos Cuellar, Portsmouth’s Jamie O’Hara, and Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher.

United have a double gameweek so Wayne Rooney is given the armband and Patrice Evra is also included. However the Red Devils aren’t involved in Gameweek 28 due to the League Cup Final so more changes will be required.

Thomas Sorensen gets the nod in goal, though neither him or Joe Hart have very appealing fixtures away from home.

Gameweek 26 yielded only46 points. Neither Tevez or Etherington took part in their second game of a double gameweek, though both scored a respectable seven points in their first game.

Abou Diaby and his 10 points sat nicely on the bench while Nani contributed a grand total of -2.

Rooney and Drogba both finished on five points, though Drogba’s were doubled due to him having the captaincy.

The team currently sits in 29,370th place out of a total of 2,268,353 teams.

Team for Gameweek 27 -

Didier Drogba’s spectacular return to the Premiership has left Neil Sherwin no option but to take a four point hit [...]

Didier Drogba’s spectacular return to the Premiership has left Neil Sherwin no option but to take a four point hit to get the Chelsea man back in his Fantasy Football team.

It was simply a sensational comeback. Didier Drogba gunned down Arsenal with a stunning first half display having been absent from the league for a month, and his brace typified him as a player – powerful and astute. He is simply a must for any Fantasy Football team at the moment.

The decision to take a four point hit to bring him in wasn’t taken lightly however, though James Milner’s poor run of form made the decision a little easier. The Villa man was axed along with Darren Bent, Ruining Football’s only remaining outfield ever-present this season.

Joining Drogba in the side is Stoke’s Matthew Etherington due to the Potters’ double gameweek. The hope is that the four point penalty will be made up easily between himself and Drogba, who also immediately takes over as captain.

The transfers were made midway through Sunday’s big game in anticipation of a price rise for Drogba. Subsequently, the team has suffered a blow with the news that Bolton’s Gary Cahill looks set to be out for quite a while with a blood clot in his shoulder.

With both himself and Armand Traore sidelined, albeit for different reasons, the backline is looking quite thin and will have to be sorted in coming weeks.

Thomas Sorensen takes over in goal having been criminally left on the sidelines for the last two weeks, while Nani can hopefully remain in Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team plans.

The gameweek is broken up by the weekend’s FA cup action so hopefully injuries are kept to a minimum.

Last week’s total of 56 points got things back on track after a horrible Gameweek 24. Wayne Rooney was again the standout performer, contributing 22 points as skipper.

Both Nani and Patrice Evra contributed an assist, and while Branislav Ivanovic kept a clean sheet.

The team currently sits in 23,653rd place out of a total of 2,260,062 teams.

Team for Gameweek 26 -

A disatrous gameweek has seen Ruining Football slide down the Fantasy Football standings. This week we’ve invested heavily in Manchester [...]

A disatrous gameweek has seen Ruining Football slide down the Fantasy Football standings. This week we’ve invested heavily in Manchester United going to town on Portsmouth at Old Trafford.

After a quite horrific gameweek that culminated in just 36 points, desperate measures have been taken to get things back on track. Into the side comes Nani. Yes, Nani.

The much maligned winger has been in good form as of late, as seen at The Emirates last week, and with a home game against Portsmouth the hope is that he will continue in the same fashion. That is of course until the team sheet is announced and Fergie has decided he needs a rest.

One man who will surely play for United is Wayne Rooney. Possibly the best player in the league right now on form, Rooney has taken the captain’s armband back from Carlos Tevez who failed to deliver last weekend.

In fact nobody really performed last week apart from Rooney. Chelsea’s Michael Ballack and Branislav Ivanovic contributed a massive seven points between them from a double gameweek. Pathetic.

Carlos Tevez hit a post for Manchester City, while no other player scored more than three points. Interestingly, Ryan Shawcross, who was sold last week, kept a clean sheet for Stoke, as did Thomas Sorensen who was sitting comfortably on the bench for us.

However, Joe Hart keeps his place between the sticks with Birmingham at home to Wolves.

Arsenal’s Abou Diaby is still out while Armand Traore looks to be finished in the first team and he will be transferred out next week hopefully.

The Gunners go to Stamford Bridge this weekend and it really is difficult to see anything other than a Chelsea win, though hopefully Cesc Fabregas can at least put in a good performance.

James Milner had another below average points return and an eye will be kept on him over the next few weeks.

Sunderland really need to start performing again and have a great opportunity to grab three points at home to a Wigan side that was dumped out of the FA Cup by Notts County during the week.

The team currently sits in 20,629th place out of a total of 2,255,259 teams.

Team for Gameweek 25 -

The midweek action centred around damage limitation for Ruining Football with only eight players involved, while Chelsea’s double gameweek means Michael Ballack is an important figure this weekend.

The signing of Michael Ballack paid off almost immediately as the German performed well in Chelsea’s comfortable 3-0 win over Birmingham, claiming an assist and a clean sheet.

His side play twice in Gameweek 24, and though both fixtures are away from Stamford Bridge, they will be confident of claiming six points from Burnley and Hull.

Ballack’s team mate Branislav Ivanovic comes into the squad at the expense of Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross, while strikers Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez return to the starting lineup after being involved in cup action during the week.

Tevez takes on the captaincy with a home game against bottom side Portsmouth as City will be looking to get a result to make up for the heartache of Wednesday’s League Cup semi final defeat to neighbours United.

Armand Traore and Abou Diaby drop to the bench with doubts over the former’s place in the Arsenal team and question marks over the latter’s fitness.

Hopefully Darren Bent can re-discover his goalscoring touch at home to Stoke, while James Milner hasn’t had the best few weeks.

The Gameweek 23 total of 35 points wasn’t bad all things considered, with solid performances from Ballack, Gary Cahill and Jody Craddock, but skipper Cesc Fabregas only managed a disappointing eight points.

The team currently sits in 11,193rd place out of a total of 2,247,936 teams.

Wayne Rooney’s stunning double gameweek was the main factor behind Ruining Football’s move into the top 10,000 for the first time this season.

The Manchester United striker was in sublime form with five goals in just two games, and if you didn’t have him as captain then you would have been watching on with envy as his individual score rocketed to 64 points on Saturday evening.

Cesc Fabregas returned from his latest injury with a bang, contributing two goals, and assist, and six bonus points, while his teammates Abou Diaby and Armand Traore contributed 14 points between them.

Patrice Evra’s two clean sheets came in handy, while both Gary Cahill and Darren Bent found the net yet again.

The total points haul of 136 looks impressive, but it was quite average amongst the top teams in the competition.

The team now sits in 9,309th place out of a total of 2,243,574 teams.

Gameweek 23 sees a number of big teams absent, meaning Ruining Football will only be able to field a maximum of ten players.

Clint Dempsey’s long term injury meant there was no option but to replace him so in comes Chelsea’s Michael Ballack with one eye on Gameweek 24 where his side play twice.

Abou Diaby is an injury doubt so if he doesn’t play then we are down to nine players, however I didn’t feel that taking a four point hit would be justified.

There is no chance that this gameweek will be as profitable as the last but if we can reach an above average score then I’ll be satisifed.

With two Sunderland players in the side, I will be looking for an away win in their clash with Everton, and a Wolves clean sheet at home to Liverpool would be great with Jody Craddock returning to the team this gameweek.

Cesc Fabregas has been given the captaincy as I believe that’s the option most people go for. It’s not really a week for taking a gamble so the Spaniard is the ’safe’ option.

With six teams playing twice this gameweek there are plenty of fantasy football points up for grabs, though Fernando Torres won’t be responsible for any of them.

An injury to Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has meant that there was no choice but to use this week’s transfer to get in a replacement.

The Spaniard needs an operation and will out for six weeks so the obvious person to come in is Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

The Champions have two home games this gameweek against Burnley and Hull City and will be expecting maximum points. Rooney has also been put as captain in the hope that he can bag at least a couple of goals.

After the transfer we still have 2.7 million to play around with.

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas is due to return from a injury and will join teammates Armand Traore and Abou Diaby, as well as Rooney, Patrice Evra and Gary Cahill, for the double gameweek.

James Milner hasn’t had the best of times lately, though hopefully his midweek Carling Cup goal will put him back on the right track, while Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey could be a decent bet for a goal away to Blackburn Rovers.

Carlos Tevez was the hero of Gameweek 21 where we only had five players playing due to the weather. His stunning hattrick against Blackburn, coupled with his role as captain, meant the Argentine contributed 34 of the 51 point total.

His rich vein of form has made him the subject of thousands of transfers over the past few weeks.

Both Patrice Evra and Abou Diaby contributed assists, while Joe Hart bagged two bonus points for yet another superb performance in goal for Birmingham City.

The team currently sits in 11,528th place out of a total of 2,231,234 teams.

Teams for Gameweek 22 -

The weather has played havoc with this week’s Premier League fixtures, and left fantasy football managers scrambling to put out a full side.

At the time of writing there are only four Premiership games still going ahead after the Wigan v Aston Villa clash was called off this morning.

This leaves Ruining Football with a grand total of six players available for the gameweek, including new signing Carlos Tevez who has come in for Didier Drogba who is at the African Cup of Nations.

The Argentine has just picked up the league’s Player of the Month award and has been in sparkling form as of late.

Joe Hart’s Birmingham City take on Patrice Evra’s Manchester United at St. Andrews and a 0-0 draw would do very nicely.

Arsenal host Everton at home and hopefully Abou Diaby and Armand Traore can contribute a bit more than they did in the double gameweek, but Cesc Fabregas is still sidelined through injury.

Jody Craddock completes the half dozen players who could still be in action as his Wolves side travel to Upton Park to face West Ham.

The poor conditions badly affected the last gameweek when Arsenal and Bolton had their second game postponed, though we still managed to finish up on 60 points.

The decision to give the captaincy to Thomas Sorensen backfired spectacularly as he scored a grand total of four points, missing Stoke’s second game of the week in the process.

All three strikers contributed heavily though with Bent (2), Drogba and Torres all finding the back of the net in their respective fixtures.

Clint Dempsey again shone in midfield, picking up a goal, an assist, and three binus points from his two games.

The team currently sits in 22,456th place out of a total of 2,225,331 teams.
