Thanks for the replies guys. It’ll certainly be interesting what happens with Ramires at Chelsea. There’s been a bit of talk that Ancelotti is not a fan and he wasn’t his buy. I’d be very surprised if that is true.

Considering the prospect that Obi Mikel was when he (eventually) joined Chelsea – anything is possible for Ramires. If they get Neymar for £25-30m then both players should settle in easier. I’d expect Ramires to be used more. Luiz it seems is staying at Benfica.

Brazil really do have an astonishing crop of talent emerging. Let’s not forget Coutinho looks like Kaka’s kid brother!

I should add I am aware Pato scored in the first half!

Ramires is a box-to-box runner; he’ll become an Essien-type. Not really a ‘thinker’ on the ball, nor a ‘dictator’ as you suggest
In fact, he is perfectly suited to the Premiership because of the open nature of the game there; plenty of space in which he can launch surging runs.

Hernanes will be the deep-lying playmaker.

Sunny, I couldn’t agree more with your assessment – very reminiscent of Germany’s WC team.

OK, it was only a friendly (albeit with a very competitive edge), but the indicators are there that the next four-year ‘cycle’ will be fruitful for Brazil. It’s nothing new to marvel at their strength-in-depth, but it’s truly remarkable that in shifting aside arguably the best central defensive pairing on the planet (Juan/Lucio) they can call upon this brand-new, ball-playing partnership.

Oh – and the one guy you haven’t mentioned was Ganso. What a debut! Who needs Kaka!?
