Ghana international Stephen Appiah has joined Serie A strugglers Bologna despite ongoing concerns over his fitness.
The 28 year old had been without a club since he left Fenerbahce and recently had unsuccessful trials at Tottenham Hotspur and Rubin Kazan.
Appiah has struggled with a knee injury in recent years and the terms of his contract with the Rossoblu are currently undisclosed.
“I am very happy with the deal Bologna because they are the only club who showed faith in me,” he told BBC Sport.
“I am going to give all my heart to this team as I have done with all my previous teams.
“With the little that I have, I am going to respect the Bologna colours and together with my new team-mates we will make the team great.”
He recently captained Ghana to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Bologna will be Appiah’s fifth Italian club after spells with Udinese Parma, Brescia, and Juventus.
