Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is close to becoming a Southampton player, according to his current club Bayern Munich.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who is the Bundesliga champions’ Chief Executive Officer, has confirmed that the 20-year-old will undergo a medical at St. Mary’s.
The Saints have money to spend after Sadio Mane, Victor Wanyama and Juanmi all left the club so far this summer, while striker Graziano Pelle is expected to make a switch to the Chinese Super League.
Hojbjerg, who spent last season on loan with Bundesliga side Schalke, would cost in the region of £12 million.
He has 15 caps and one goal for Denmark to date.
#Rummenigge on potential ins and outs: “Hojbjerg has gone for a medical at Southampton today. The transfer market is open for a while yet.”
