Actually he wasn’t battered all season. There was a small protest at the start of the season but most fans were willing to see how things went with mcleish and weren’t that fussed about his previous team only his previous record. The majority of fans did not ” batter” him until the Bolton game nearing the end of the season which they can hardly be blamed for after the dross the had endured previously. It is a press perception that his Birmingham ties were his downfall with villa fans , actually it was his performance as manager. Injuries blah blah we were no better with a fully fit squad.

Also, find your comment regarding getting behind the manager hilarious. Lerner was behind McLeish but you lot absolutely battered him all season long never allowing his past with Brum to be accepted.

Over the last 24 months Villa have sold players ammounting to well over £50 million. Perhaps you should do your research and not scew facts to fit your petty insults of author.

If the team want to compete again then they must replace the likes of Young, Downing and Milner effectively.

They havent and so they have suffered. Lerner needs to invest heavily in the squad again which is what the author has said… if you actually read what was said.

Lack of funds ???? our owner wants us to live within our means, that’s all, in the last 16 months he has spent over £50m on new players …… we needed the stupid wage bill O’Neill ran up cut back to sensible proportions, which it has now. If you are going to write about a club, do some research before hand. Lerner will make sure the next guy is the right one, he will back him as he always has and the fans will get behind him.

Mid table mediocrity ? Villa are 5 th on points in 20 years of the premiership. O’neill took us to where we should be , not beyond. Let’s hope next manager is given some funds but mainly time to achieve something. If the football is a bit more exciting than under Mcyawn ( not difficult) I think most villa fans are prepared to give any new manager time.
