Arsenal could move for West Bromwich Albion centre back Jonny Evans as they look to boost their defensive stocks.
With Per Mertesacker set for an extended spell on the sidelines after knee surgery, Arsene Wenger is exploring his options.
One of those is ex-Manchester United man Evans who only moved to the Hawthorns last year for a fee of £8 million.
The Gunners may have to fork out double that if they are certain that the 28-year-old is the answer to their current problem.
Evans was an important member of the Northern Ireland side that reached the last 16 of the European Championships in France last month.
