Arsenal interested in Cork City’s Brian Lenihan

Cork newspaper the Evening Echo is reporting that Cork City full back Brian Lenihan is a target for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger’s chief scout Steve Rowley was at Turner’s Cross on Friday night to see the former College Corinthians full back impress yet again.

It’d be great for Irish football and the League of Ireland if the teenager secured a move to the Emirates, which as nurtured talents such as Cesc Fabergas and Jack Wilshere in recent years.

Right now the Corkman is concentrating on his career in Ireland and helping Cork City in their quest for the Premier Division title.

Lenihan has shown himself to be an intelligent, skilled and versatile player, who can operate in defence as well as his preferred central midfield role.

At just 18 he is certainly one to watch out for, but right now he’s solely focused on obtaining a starting place in the Cork City first team.
