Alonso to be honest is a player who is finished.
In big matches by the 70th min he looks like a 50 years old.
He can’t keep up with the play and starts fouling.
Later on in the season if RM are not careful he is going to be wasted.

Really nice article, but I agree with Dean on that one little thing. Madrid struggled without Alonso last year and Sahin is a great option there. Of course he can play further forward, but his main position will most likely be CM.

Thanks for the opinion, Leo. While I do agree, and state, that Barcelona are the world’s best side numerous times in the article. The article is about Madrid improving, which they have, and not Barcelona, so that point is a bit irrelevant. Also, it would be laughable on your part to think that Sahin will only be used in a defensive midfield role given Real’s depth, and he has been used on the left with Borussia Dortmund in the past, so it is not only feasible, it is quite possible, especially if Mourinho wants to be a bit more defensive.
