Good article Ciaran,
Just because Villas Boas used a 4-3-3 doesn't mean he favours this and will use it at Chelsea. Formations mean nothing if you dont have the players to execute them..Im a Liverpool fan but having watched Torres since his days in the segunda in Spain he's simply not comfortable playing with strikers/forwards alongside him..This was quite apparent when Chelsea tried the 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 with Drogba up front with him..Torres was lost and it was the same situation at Atletico Madrid. He was the focal point of their "attacks" - I use the "attacks" sparingly!..When Aguero played with Torres he also played in behind him and he can play between the lines(In the way Tevez can)

At Liverpool he was obviously at his most potent with Gerrard in behind him..Anyway its a massive risk appointing Villas Boas and i can see it back firing but who knows what will happen with Abramovich at the controls.

Nice article.

I've always been a bit suspicious of whenever the mainstream has latched on to Ancelotti's stoic charm.

It is true that he was essentially sabotaged by Abramovich, and the complete backroom workings may never be known. But, several factors to Chelsea's demise, such as the players' indiscipline and tactics, were directly under his control.

To paint Ancelotti as a hero and his players as villains is nonsensical. A good manager instills his philosophy and spirit into his side.
