Thanks for reading Giakimo!

I also agree with the fact about the globalisation and the eredivise's struggle to compete. It has been a major factor, in fact for most other leagues. But I also firmly believe that, if Ajax for instance had acquired a competitive mentality over the years, it wouldn't have been a problem to launch a genuine challenge for at least the knock out phase. This could have been done when they had the quality. In short, they could have at least competed with the quality they have always seemed to have, before selling.

But I guess it might be more complicated than we think. Besides, this article was a spontaneous expression of concern. Nothing would make me happier than seeing Ajax back at the top.

And cheers for highlighting the mistake mate, realized it too late.

Thanks a lot! :-)

Interesting article. I believe this degrading in status is a consequence of globalization of the leagues. The Eredivisie cannot compete money-wise and popularity-wise with the other major leagues. In fact now Champion's League semifinalists are always between team from the same 3/4 countries.
One mistake though: it was Juventus, not Ajax, that beat Real Madrid and Nantes. Ajax faced Borussia Dortmund and Panathinaikos.
