Ghana lost Essien to injury, Ivory Coast were drawn into the toughest group and could only rely on a half-fit Drogba. Nigeria were all over the place and Cameroon’s team peaked a few years ago.

Additionally, I lament the fact that Egypt did not qualify. They are undeniably a better team than Algeria, and probably only lost their play-off due to adrenaline and cultural significance. The Egyptians would have made for a far greater spectacle.
