The issue with Ade at Arsenal was NOT only about his greed and constantly flirting PUBLICLY in the press with other clubs.

The issue with Ade at Arsenal was his disruption in the dressing room, his massive ego, his baiting of teammates, his increasing selfishness on the pitch where he'd refuse to pass to teammates in perfect goal-scoring positions, his REFUSAL to learn the offside rule, his increasing laziness (where before his workrate had been his greatest asset).

Even an even-tempered player like Rosicky was furious with him a number of times. He eventually alienated most if not all his teammates and staff, with even close friend Eboue feeling hurt by him.

But apart from all that, there is one moment in which he lost me completely and finally (and I was a strong supporter of his even when other gooners trashed him).

We were playing the CC semifinal at WHL, losing badly, humiliated. Spurs had scored 4 goals at the time and we playing crap, we'd scored none.

Wenger sent Ade onto the pitch to try to rescue something. So what does he do? Does he try to rally his teammates, gee them up, shout "ok, guys, let's focus and try to get something out of this game, let's fight!"

No, he does nothing of the kind.

Instead he goes over to a teammate (Bendtner) and says "I'm on because you're shit." Which generated an angry reaction from Bendtner. And no, Bendtner was not at fault. The club had Ade officially apologize to Bendtner on the club website-Bendtner was never asked to make an apology.

THAT is the kind of player Ade is. In a horrible moment for his team, against our most hated rivals, on their home ground, we're being humiliated - and THAT'S what he does. It's always all about HIM.

I have never hated an Arsenal player before since I started supporting the club in the early 80s. But no Arsenal player has ever done anything like that. At that point, I hated Ade.

On that day, he totally lost me and I was very glad to see him go. And btw, when he saw that neither Man United, Chelsea nor any of the Spanish or Italian giants wanted him (and only City wanted him), he came back to Wenger and begged to take him back. He didn't want to go to City because they were not in the CL and had no prestige or status. Wenger said no-and the dressing room became much better for it.

I read a piece in WSC last month I think, describing how players moving clubs and being apparently 'disloyal' is not actually a new phenomenon. Of course it isn't, and anyway, why do we blame players for moving clubs for money? Would you turn down the chance to do your exact job for twice the wage? Of course not. If he's moving to a club where he has a better chance of winning silverware, all the better.

There is a reason why Arsenal sold Adebayor, and why he has slipped down the pecking order at Manchester City- his attitude is wrong. How did Adebayor react on scoring against Arsenal on his return? Ran the length of the pitch to taunt the traveling supporters.

Having slipped down the order at Manchester City did he stay and fight for his place? Does it not say a lot about the character of the individual that Balotelli, who has one of the worst attitudes in the Premier League, is given a greater chance than Adebayor? True he is young and undeniably talented but with the injury to Tevez would you not expect Mancini to have an experienced forward within his squad? These examples seemingly suggest Adebayor's issues, the player oozes mercenary.

I cannot even contemplate what he went through during the African Cup of Nations, it was undeniably one of the worst events in recent footballing history. But judging him purely on his footballing attributes, he represents many of the worst qualities that individuals brand footballers with.
